Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Sri Lanka's most iconic landmarks. This ancient rock fortress is located in the central part of the island, rising 200 meters above the surrounding plains. Known as the "Lion’s Rock," Sigiriya was once the royal palace of King Kashyapa during the 5th century and features stunning frescoes, intricate water gardens, and impressive architectural ruins. Visitors can climb the steep rock staircase, passing through the giant lion’s paws at the base, to reach the summit where the ruins of the palace and breathtaking views await. Sigiriya is not only a historical site but also a natural wonder, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and wildlife.
